In other blog posts I’ve written that I’m a movie buff. I like to see all the movies nominated for the Academy Awards so that on award day I know all the little secrets they refer to or jokes about the movies during the presentations. I’m just that way.
I’ve often thought it was because I lived in Los Angeles for a majority of my life, you know, almost rubbing elbows with all those movies stars (I wish!).
The first movie I saw as a child was Gone With The Wind and I got scared and cried over the big fire scene. The second feature film was 7 Brides For 7 Brothers. Oh you saw those too?
Something New And Exciting Coming To Lake Oswego
One of the things I love about living in Lake Oswego is the culture, the art. And, I frequently go to our local movie theater to watch all the latest movies. Now, there are some new and exciting changes coming to Lake Oswego and the Lake Twin Theater.
Lake Twin Theater In Lake Oswego
Now comedy, concerts, family events, foreign films, a restaurant, and more.
Some of the new and big renovations being added to the 1951 movie house will include a café with a restaurant, kitchen and full-service bar. There are plans to renovate the two movie auditoriums and add state-of-the-art projection equipment.
While the first auditorium will remain a traditional film venue, the second auditorium will offer a format rarely seen before in Lake Oswego. It will have the flexibility to host parties, stand-up comedy events and concerts. The second floor of the theater will be leveled and face out toward the lake. It will feature a large, covered outdoor deck.
The new digital equipment will be able to download opera and show live sporting events. They will be able to show classic films with Blue Ray technology. If movie lovers have visions of “Casablanca” or “Gone With The Wind,” they’re right.
NW Film Festival – Foreign Films Starts February 10
The updated theater also has the potential to turn Lake Oswego into a site for film festivals.and will host the Northwest Film Festival starting Feb. 10. This will be the first time that the Northwest Film Festival has been located beyond the City of Portland. We’re really lucky to have a great theater like this in our downtown Lake Oswego area.
The NW Film Festival Schedule goes on-line January 31. Here’s the link.
It is very fitting that Lake Oswego will be a part of the NW Film Festival considering all the art that surrounds us Lake Oswego.
